v1.2.2 Released with bug fixes

Dec 3, 2024

Version 1.2.2 of Logic Buddy is now live! This version addresses and resolves all of the known causes of crashes found so far! As always, if you encounter any bugs or issues you can send an email to support@logicbuddy.net or use the contact form on the website.

My apologies to the people that had crashing happen when they were trying to start the free trial… The bug has been fixed. For the integrity of the free trial it has to do some secret checks to ensure that the trial is not being bypassed. Unfortunately, if there is a crash right during the initial startup of the free trial before its able to get things ready then it would just immediately say the trial is over. This was a bug and of course not intended. The free trial lasts for one week.

If you’ve encountered this before the free trial was able to start then you’ll need to quit the app and delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Logic Buddy folder and the ~/Library/Preferences/net.logicbuddy.Logic Buddy.plist file to reset it. This will only reset the free trial for the first time.

Thanks again to those users who’ve taken the time to provide additional feedback, ideas, logs, and crash reports which makes tackling any issues way easier!

Free Trial and Notes

Oct 19, 2024

Logic Buddy v1.2 is now live! It now features project Notes which you can add to any project record for quick reference. If you show the Notes column, then you can also search for text inside of these Notes. Logic Buddy now has a 1 week Free Trial which is fully featured to allow new users to try out the app with their own projects!

This version also comes with some bug fixes like properly restoring the state of the Filter Tree after a restart. The search for projects now shows a progress dialog when it does its first search or when a search is done in the settings. There were also significant speed improvements to the search for projects so that those with thousands of Logic Pro project files can still find them momentarily. From there, Logic Buddy can filter and search through projects faster than Finder without the need to apply custom filters in Finder just to show your project files!

Thanks to the users who’ve provided helpful feedback and suggestions to improve Logic Buddy. If you have any ideas you can use the Contact page or send an email to support.

From now until Halloween is the Fall Sale which is 30% off Logic Buddy!

What’s new in v1.1

Oct 2, 2024

A special thanks to the Logic Buddy users who’ve been very helpful in recommending ideas and improvements to Logic Buddy.

The latest release v1.1 is available now! Its complete with bug fixes and new features. For people that are using ARA Files in their projects Logic Buddy will now display ‘ARA’ next to the song key in the Project Details. There’s now an experimental feature which can be enabled in the Settings which will launch these projects in Rosetta mode! So, if you’re a producer using an M-Series mac and you’ve been switching back and forth between native Apple silicon mode and Rosetta mode in Logic Pro to deal with ARA projects this can make things easier! Be aware that if you use this feature you’ll have to quit Logic Pro first when switching back and forth between Rosetta and Apple native mode.

This version now features a ‘Search for Projects’ button in the Monitor tab in the Settings. Logic Buddy usually avoids searching for projects and instead gets notified by macOS when a project is added or changed but just in case anything falls through the cracks you can use this button to manually start another search which will get all the latest project details!

There’s also been some improvement to reduce memory usage even further so that Logic Buddy can run with very little requirements in the background. It’ll idle at 0% CPU so that you can have it running in the background while using Logic Pro to make it convenient to update the status of the project as soon as you close it!

Since this is the first blog post, I’ll also mention in case you missed it that if you want to bulk delete Logic Buddy records that this can be done by removing the folder in the Monitor tab in the Settings. If you’re not 100% sure, please do a backup of the database first from the Manage menu.
